The hexamorous hat is an exploration of how construction and color interact. Knit in a striping, variegated yarn, paired increases and decreases combine to give the crown of the hat six distinct sections, which to me look like the petals of a flower. The name for this pattern comes from the botanical word for a six-petaled flower: hexamerous. A bit of word play with the spelling, and we arrive at hexamorous, because who doesn’t love a hexagon?
The pattern has both charted and written instructions, and includes notes on customizing the pattern to suit your needs.
