….when you can have a craft house?
A friend of mine told me a while ago that she has a loom sitting around unused, and that she’d love it if I’d borrow it for a while.
Branden enthusiastically enabled, but it wouldn’t fit in our car.
Then another friend told me that she had a truck and would help me move it.
Then a third friend (who also happens to be our awesome downstairs neighbor) helped us carry it up the stairs.
A few friends and a lot of enabling later, I have a loom in my livingroom (dining room chairs and cat added for scale…).
It may still move to the craft room, but it’s really becoming harder and harder to maintain the appearance of segregation between crafty activities and living space. And that isn’t entirely a bad thing, right?
I agree, why segregate? 🙂 Very nifty loom! I’ve never worked on one that large.
A guild member was GIVING AWAY a floor loom and I couldn’t even entertain the idea of bringing it home! We need a bigger house! Or even better – I need a yurt for all my fiber activities.
Ooohhh…lucky you! Weaving is definitely something I’m interested in, but the space is not there, so it’s one of those things on hold for now. I remember visiting the house of one of my dad’s co-workers when I was little. She was a weaver and had at least one (maybe more?) floor loom. They’ve fascinated me ever since.
Yes, craft house, or perhaps hobby house. Maybe as one word – hobbyhouse. Definitely the right idea.
And, my, what a cooperative cat to provide scale. Shocking to think a cat would investigate something new. 😉
