Sat 3 Jan 2015
Welcome to 2015! I hope the new year is starting off well for all of you. Ours has been quiet so far, which is generally how we like it.
I usually come up with some kind of knitting goals list to kick off the new year. My brain has been circling around to it for days, but so far…nothing. Last year, my noble and ambitious goal was simply to “knit more.” I think I did manage to accomplish that (at least compared to the previous year), but I can’t say that I have any new and exciting themes for 2015.
I have a feeling that my knitting will continue its trend toward smaller needles and finer fabrics. That’s not really a goal, just a consequence of my liking for finer fabrics. There’s a vague tickle in the back of my brain that says it might be time for some more colorwork…that could be fun. I’d like to continue working my way down through the stash, in a low pressure, non-exclusive kind of way. A steady diet of stash yarns would be good, though.
None of those “goals” feels particularly exciting or well-defined, but sometimes it’s time to simply carry on, so that’s what I plan to do. I have a feeling that the first half of this year will be a lot of quietly carrying on, followed by some bigger changes that are a little too far off to see clearly yet.
And in the meantime, I will knit. (Something.)
How about you? Anything exciting on your knitting horizons?
This morning I bagged up 2 more yarn stashes for sweaters for my queue. “Get a number!! Stand in Line. Your turn will come soon after all the others are done!”. My word for the year is Strive–to be a better person, knitter, weaver, spinner, whatever!!
Happy New Year! I don’t really have any well-defined knitting goals for 2015 either, although it would be nice to actually get some in-progress projects finished. And use up some of the stash/not buying more; I’m starting to have trouble remember what I already have. I do have a couple knitting projects I’m thinking about, but I think some necessary cold-weather accessories will have to come first. (And all of this so say, my 2015 goal is be default to knit more!)
Happy knitting!
My knitting theme for the year is “Knit Fresh!” I’m ALMOST finished with the few remaining WIPs, some years old, and once done with them, it will be all fresh cast-ons.
Actually, one of those WIPs still needs a body, so maybe “almost” is not quite accurate, but getting all my projects off the needles at once actually looks achievable.
I’m looking forward to your year – whatever you do with your intentions, it will be interesting.
I plan to finish up several of my UFOs in the first half of 2015. I have quite a few and I would like to finish at least 6 before June. I like all of the projects except maybe a pair or 2 of socks, and so will finish the rest at some point. I also want to stash down. I get to go to Rhinebeck this year and 2 good friends are going with me. It should be lots of fun! I want to save money for yarn purchases and make room for the yarn. 🙂
Other than that I want to get healthier (walking mostly but also eating better) and do more stuff with my husband.
I hope you have a happy, healthy start to your year.
